Coating and functionalization do more than just alter a particle’s surface; they also influence the product’s subsequent performance. The Eirich CleanLine enables the targeted coating, stabilization, or functionalization of powders, particles, and granules—for example, for flavor masking, controlled release, oxidation protection, color stability, improved workability, or the protection of sensitive ingredients.

Whether flavors, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, leavening agents, pigments, pharmaceutical excipients, or substances that are difficult to fluidize: the Eirich CleanLine enables coating processes in a closed system that combines intensive mixing, targeted addition, and uniform distribution of functional components. In addition to coating and mixing, granulation, kneading, dispersing, and drying/cooling are also key applications of the CleanLine.

What does the application do?

Functionality is created on the surface—controlled throughout the process.

The CleanLine combines intensive material movement with precise addition and deposition of functional components. This allows particles, powders, or granules to be uniformly moistened, coated, or functionalized—for example, with grease or wax coatings, flavor components, protective layers, color systems, or stabilizing additives.

The advantage: Coating is not viewed as an isolated, standalone step, but rather as an integral component part of material development and production. This allows protective function, taste, color, stability, solubility, release behavior, and workability to be specifically aligned with the desired product profile.

Typical Challenges

Sensitive ingredients such as vitamins, flavorings, minerals, or probiotics must be reliably and reproducibly protected from moisture content, oxygen, temperature, or chemical reactions.
The taste, odor, or reactivity of individual components must be masked or controlled.
Color, function, or active ingredient distribution vary from batch to batch.
Controlled release or time-delayed reaction cannot be set with sufficient stability in the existing process.
Fat/wax coatings or functional protective layers must be applied uniformly.
Substances that are difficult to fluidize, sticky, with high density, or sensitive are only suitable for conventional fluidized-bed processes to a limited extent.
Additional coating units increase cleaning efforts, validation efforts, space requirements, and product loss.

Functional components can be distributed directly during the process and targeted to the particle surface.
